it's a boy!!!!
i'm so very excited to be writing this post in particular! this past thursday, september 9th, jerry and i found out that we're having a baby boy! he's healthy in all ways (trust me, the doctor measured just about everything there is to measure on a human being) and he's on his way at 100%. so it's snails and puppy dog tails for this family, though we'll try to keep the oh-so-predictable blue to a minimum! ;)
it's a strange thing to suddenly know what little human being, boy or girl, is inside you, after so many months of curiosity and anxiety and daydreaming about the "what if's" that are still to come if they're one gender or another (the daydreaming doesn't come close to stopping, and the anxiety, though abated, is still latent and pops up every once in a while, and that's not a bad thing, i promise!). my whole life i had sworn i wouldn't know what my child's sex was until he or she was born, but the curiosity of it all, plus being able to decide on a name and organize all the cute stuff that is available for a boy or a girl was too much to bear. that, and that jerry being the very practical, sensible man that he is, said early on, "we'll know, we don't have enough time to not know and be able to plan it all properly!" hehehe i guess it all goes to show just how very little we can plan in life and how much things change when you're in the thick of things. i've been learning a lot of those lessons lately, by the way - so much of what you think you know, are and feel changes when there's finally a little baby in the mix.
anyway, so it suffices to say that we're ecstatic, and that although jerry had said he wanted a girl, he's thrilled and already planning. i think he'll appreciate a little boy once that little boy turns 15, 16 and onwards and isn't the one trying to get out of the house in a mini-skirt! (boy do i remember those days....mom, dad, i can only say 'forgive me!') we're trying to pick a name (no easy task, i might add) but we've got a few wonderful options and the adventure is only getting more fun!!!
